May Theme of the Month: Shine
Awaken your inner light this Kapha season.
As the lingering chill and dampness of late winter begin to give way to spring’s promise, we enter the heart of Kapha season—a time when the elements of earth and water are most present in both nature and our bodies. While this season brings a sense of grounding and stability, it can also create feelings of sluggishness, heaviness, and emotional fog.
At Moonflower this month, our theme is one simple, powerful word: Shine.
To shine is to awaken from the heaviness, to move through inertia and into clarity, movement, and light. It’s the reminder that your radiance hasn’t gone anywhere—it’s just been resting beneath the surface, waiting for you to uncover it.
In the Ayurvedic tradition, this time of year is ideal for invigorating the body, stimulating digestion, and clearing the mind. Through practices that balance Kapha—dynamic movement, heating breathwork, light foods, and early rising—we gently stoke the inner fire and clear the fog that may have settled during the colder months.
This month, in class and beyond, we invite you to:
Move with purpose. Embrace energizing flows, invigorating pranayama, and mindful transitions that build warmth and clarity.
Nourish your body with light, seasonal foods that stimulate your Agni (digestive fire).
Let go of emotional and physical stagnation. Journal. Breathe deeply. Get outside.
Explore what it means to truly shine from within—not for appearance, but from alignment with your natural energy and purpose.
As Marianne Williamson so beautifully said:
“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
When you awaken your own light, you don’t just uplift yourself—you help light the way for others.
Let this month be a time to reconnect with your vitality, step into movement and clarity, and rise into your full presence. The world needs your light. Let it shine.
In peace,
Katie
